The George R. Brown Forensic Society is Rice University’s competitive intercollegiate speech and debate team. Founded in 1984, the society replaced the original Rice Forensic Society, which existed from 1954 to 1964. The team represents Rice by competing in speech and debate tournaments throughout the United States.
The George R. Brown Forensics Society has a strong tradition of success. The society has brought home numerous national championships. Most recent was Priscilla Parrett’s 2007 national championship in Persuasive Speaking. The squad finished 5th in the nation for the academic year 2007-2008, bringing home three All-American awards in addition to regular competition trophies.
